cold warrior
Anti-Soviet hardliner
A cold warrior is someone who participated in or supported the ideological and geopolitical struggle between the United States and Soviet Union from roughly 1947 to 1991.
The term often carries connotations of hawkish anti-communism and readiness for confrontation: He was an old cold warrior who never quite adjusted to détente.
It can be used admiringly or critically depending on the speaker's politics.
