cloud banks
Layered sky formations
Cloud banks are large, dense masses of clouds stretching across the horizon, often appearing as a solid wall or layer.
The term borrows from the geographical sense of bank—a raised mass or ridge.
Cloud banks commonly form over water or along coastlines: A cloud bank rolled in from the sea.
They can obscure visibility and signal approaching weather changes.
