closed-book
Memory only test
Closed-book describes an exam or test where students cannot consult notes, textbooks, or other reference materials: The final is closed-book, so you'll need to memorize the formulas.
By extension, anything closed-book requires relying on memory or existing knowledge rather than looking things up.
Contrast with open-book.
