clip joint
Price-gouging establishment
A clip joint is an establishment—typically a bar or nightclub—that overcharges customers or uses deceptive practices to extract money.
The term suggests a place where patrons get "clipped" or cheated: We wandered into what turned out to be a clip joint and paid forty dollars for two beers.
Often associated with tourist traps or seedy entertainment districts.
