circus tents
Striped performance shelters
Circus tents are the large, often colorful portable shelters that house circus performances.
The classic form is the "big top"—a peaked canvas structure supported by tall center poles, with smaller poles around the perimeter.
These tents can accommodate thousands of spectators and are designed to be erected and dismantled quickly as shows travel from town to town: The circus tents went up overnight in the fairgrounds.
