children's versions
Simplified for kids
Children's versions are adaptations of works—books, films, stories, or other media—simplified or sanitized for young audiences.
The original may be shortened, given simpler vocabulary, or stripped of violence, sexuality, or moral complexity: The children's version of the fairy tale omits the stepsisters cutting off parts of their feet.
Many classics exist primarily in children's versions, their darker originals largely forgotten.
