charge up

Fill the battery

Charge up means to restore power to a battery or device: I need to charge up my phone before we leave.

It also means to energize or excite someone: The coach's speech really charged up the team.

The "up" adds emphasis or completion to the basic sense of charge—filling something with energy, whether electrical or emotional.
