Chain oil is lubricant specifically formulated for mechanical chains, most commonly on chainsaws and bicycles.
It reduces friction, prevents rust, and extends chain life.
Chainsaw bar oil is thick and tacky to stay on the chain during high-speed cutting, while bicycle chain oil tends to be thinner: I need to apply some chain oil before my next ride.
