cha siu bao
Cantonese stuffed bread
Cha siu bao is a Cantonese filled bun containing barbecued pork.
The buns come in two styles: steamed, with a fluffy white exterior that often splits open at the top, or baked, with a glazed golden crust.
A staple of dim sum, they appear on carts in Chinese restaurants worldwide: We ordered har gow and cha siu bao.
