cadet programs
Junior military preparation
Cadet programs are structured youth organizations that provide military-style training, discipline, and leadership development.
Participants, called cadets, typically wear uniforms, learn drill and ceremony, and follow a rank structure.
These programs may be affiliated with armed forces branches, police departments, or civic organizations: She joined the Civil Air Patrol cadet program in high school.
Some prepare participants for military service; others focus on citizenship and personal development without recruitment obligations.
