brown bagging
Bringing your own
Brown bagging is bringing your own food to work or school in a brown paper bag rather than buying lunch.
The practice extends to bringing your own alcohol to a restaurant that doesn't serve it, or drinking in public with the bottle concealed in a brown bag: We brown-bagged it at the park.
A brown bagger is someone who does this regularly.
