brain zap
Medication withdrawal shock
Brain zap is a sudden electrical sensation in the head, often described as a jolt, shock, or buzzing.
These brief disturbances are most associated with discontinuing antidepressants, particularly SSRIs: I forgot my meds yesterday and the brain zaps started this morning.
The sensation may extend down the spine or be triggered by eye movement.
Also called brain shiver or brain shivers.
