bothering

Getting on nerves

Bothering is the act of annoying, disturbing, or causing inconvenience to someone: Sorry for bothering you.

It can also mean making the effort to do something, usually in negative constructions: Don't bother calling—I won't answer.

What's bothering someone is what troubles or worries them: Something's been bothering me all week.
