bolshies

Revolutionary communist agitators

Bolshies is the plural of bolshie (also bolshy), British slang for someone uncooperative or rebellious: The kids were being bolshies about bedtime.

The word derives from Bolshevik, the revolutionary Russian communist faction, but the political connection has largely faded.

It now simply means difficult or obstinate.
