blows over
Passes without consequence
Blows over describes a disturbance that passes without lasting consequence, like a storm moving through.
Controversies blow over, arguments blow over, scandals blow over—given enough time, attention shifts elsewhere: Just wait a few weeks and this whole thing will blow over.
The phrase implies patience as strategy.
