blind trusts
Concealed asset management
A blind trust is a financial arrangement in which a person's assets are managed by an independent trustee without the owner's knowledge of specific holdings or transactions.
Politicians and public officials use blind trusts to avoid conflicts of interest: The senator placed her stock portfolio in a blind trust upon taking office.
The "blindness" means the beneficiary cannot know—and therefore cannot be influenced by—what the trust owns.
