blind boxes
Sealed surprise containers
Blind boxes are sealed packages containing one of several possible collectible items, with the specific contents unknown until opened.
The appeal lies in the element of chance—you might get a common figure or a rare chase variant.
The format originated with toys and trading cards but has spread to cosmetics, snacks, and digital goods: I spent way too much on blind boxes trying to complete the set.
