bit parts
Walk-on theater roles
Bit parts are small roles in a film, play, or television show—characters with minimal screen time and few lines, if any.
The term often appears in singular form: She had a bit part as a waitress.
An actor who takes such roles is a bit player.
By extension, bit parts describes minor involvement in any larger undertaking.
