behavioral questions

Past-action inquiries

Behavioral questions are interview questions that ask candidates to describe how they handled specific past situations, based on the premise that past behavior predicts future performance.

They typically begin with phrases like "Tell me about a time when..." or "Give an example of..." The interviewer asked behavioral questions about conflict resolution and leadership.

Distinguished from hypothetical questions, which ask what you would do rather than what you did.
