beer and skittles
Carefree good times
Beer and skittles means carefree enjoyment or easy pleasure—from the image of drinking beer while playing the pub game of skittles.
The phrase appears almost exclusively in negative constructions: Life isn't all beer and skittles.
It suggests that existence involves hardship, not just amusement.
