beelined
Took shortest path
Beelined is the past tense of beeline, meaning to move directly and quickly toward something: She beelined for the bar as soon as we arrived.
The word comes from the belief that bees fly in straight paths back to their hives.
To make a beeline is the more traditional phrasing, but the verb form has become common.
