barry

Banded shield pattern

In heraldry, barry describes a shield divided into horizontal stripes of alternating colors, typically six or more bands of equal width: The coat of arms was barry of six, azure and argent.

The term is technical and appears almost exclusively in blazon—the formal language of describing heraldic designs. (Capitalized Barry is a given name or surname.)
