back house
Property's secondary structure
A back house is a small outbuilding behind a main residence.
Historically, the term often referred to an outhouse or privy—the toilet structure located at the rear of a property before indoor plumbing became standard.
In modern real estate, a back house may be a secondary dwelling unit, guest cottage, or converted garage: They rent out the back house for extra income.
