all-way stop
Every direction halts
An all-way stop is an intersection where traffic from every direction must stop before proceeding.
Signs typically read "ALL WAY" or "4-WAY" beneath the stop sign.
Drivers proceed in the order they arrived, or yield to the right when arriving simultaneously: We sat at the all-way stop trying to figure out whose turn it was.
