alert dog
Attentive guard animal
An alert dog is a service animal trained to detect and warn its handler of specific medical conditions—most commonly seizures, diabetic blood sugar changes, or allergen exposure.
The dog signals an impending episode through distinctive behavior, giving the person time to take medication or reach safety: Her alert dog warned her minutes before the seizure began.
