Victorian lady

Bustle-wearing aristocrat

A Victorian lady is a woman of the upper or middle classes during Queen Victoria's reign (1837–1901), or someone who embodies that era's ideals of feminine refinement, modesty, and propriety.

The phrase often carries connotations of delicacy, repressed sexuality, and elaborate dress: She fainted like a Victorian lady at the mere suggestion.

Used ironically, it mocks excessive prudishness or fragility.
