Tony Hawk

Tony Hawk is an American professional skateboarder widely credited with popularizing the sport in mainstream culture.

He became the first person to land a 900 (two and a half aerial rotations) in competition in 1999.

His name is synonymous with skateboarding, largely through the influential *Tony Hawk's Pro Skater* video game series.

He remains culturally visible enough that people frequently fail to recognize him in person—a running joke he documents on social media.
