The Replacements
Those who substitute
The Replacements were an American rock band from Minneapolis, active from 1979 to 1991, known for ragged, passionate performances and songs that mixed punk energy with classic rock influences.
They became icons of 1980s alternative rock despite—or because of—their self-sabotaging tendencies: drunken live shows, antagonizing industry gatekeepers, deliberately uncommercial choices.
Let It Be and Tim are considered landmark albums.
The band reunited briefly in the 2010s.
Their influence on subsequent alternative and indie rock far exceeded their commercial success.
