The Far Side
Surreal single-panel cartoons
The Far Side is a single-panel comic strip by Gary Larson that ran from 1980 to 1995, known for its surreal humor, anthropomorphized animals, and absurdist takes on science and everyday life.
The strip's distinctive style—bespectacled cows, anxious scientists, hapless cavemen—made it a cultural touchstone: That's very Far Side.
The name evokes remoteness and strangeness, suggesting humor from an unexpected angle.
