Tank Girl
Post-apocalyptic punk heroine
Tank Girl is a British comic book character created in the late 1980s—a shaven-headed, foul-mouthed punk who drives a tank through a post-apocalyptic Australian wasteland.
The character became a cult icon of anarchic feminism and riot grrrl aesthetics.
A 1995 film adaptation flopped commercially but retained cult status.
The term sometimes describes women with similarly aggressive, countercultural attitudes: She showed up with a mohawk and combat boots, total Tank Girl energy.
