Olympic spirit
Global competition's ethos
Olympic spirit is the idealized ethos of athletic competition—fair play, mutual respect, and striving for excellence regardless of outcome.
The phrase invokes sportsmanship over winning at all costs: She congratulated her opponent in true Olympic spirit.
It extends beyond athletics to describe gracious competition or international cooperation generally.
