NHK
Japan's public broadcaster
NHK is Japan's national public broadcaster, roughly equivalent to the BBC in Britain or PBS in the United States.
The initials stand for Nippon Hōsō Kyōkai (Japan Broadcasting Corporation).
NHK operates television and radio networks and is funded primarily through viewer fees rather than advertising: I watch NHK World for Japanese news in English.
