Muir Woods
Bay Area forest
Muir Woods is a national monument in Marin County, California, preserving a stand of old-growth coast redwoods just north of San Francisco.
Named for naturalist John Muir, the protected grove draws visitors to walk among trees that can exceed a thousand years old.
We took the ferry to Muir Woods and hiked the main trail.
