Mississippi blues
Southern guitar laments
Mississippi blues is a raw, emotionally intense style of blues music that originated in the Mississippi Delta region in the early twentieth century.
Characterized by solo acoustic guitar, bottleneck slide technique, and deeply personal vocals, it became the foundation for much of American popular music.
Artists like Robert Johnson, Charley Patton, and Muddy Waters defined the sound: He spent years studying Mississippi blues before forming his rock band.
