Lamarckian
Use-driven heredity theory
Lamarckian refers to the evolutionary theory of Jean-Baptiste Lamarck, who proposed that organisms pass acquired traits to offspring—a giraffe stretching for leaves would produce longer-necked young.
Though largely discredited by Darwinian natural selection, Lamarckian appears in discussions of epigenetics and cultural evolution: The spread of learned behaviors feels almost Lamarckian.
