John Ritter

John Ritter (1948–2003) was an American actor best known for playing Jack Tripper on the sitcom *Three's Company*, where his gift for physical comedy—pratfalls, double-takes, rubber-faced mugging—made him a television star.

Son of country singer Tex Ritter, he later appeared in *8 Simple Rules* and films like *Sling Blade* and *Bad Santa*.

He died suddenly of an aortic dissection during production.
