Indo-Persian culture
Subcontinental Islamic synthesis
Indo-Persian culture is the synthesis of Persian and South Asian traditions that flourished from roughly the 13th to 19th centuries, particularly under Mughal rule.
Persian served as the language of courts, literature, and administration across much of the Indian subcontinent.
The fusion produced distinctive achievements in architecture (the Taj Mahal), miniature painting, poetry, music, and cuisine.
Many Urdu and Hindi words derive from this cultural exchange.
The garden design reflects Indo-Persian aesthetics.
