German scientists
Deutschland's scholarly investigators
German scientists is a phrase with two distinct uses.
The literal sense refers to scientists from Germany or of German nationality.
But the phrase also functions as a euphemism for Nazi scientists, particularly those recruited by the United States after World War II: We didn't capture their rocket technology—we captured their German scientists.
