Fannie
Home loan backer
Fannie is a feminine given name, typically a diminutive of Frances.
It was common in the 19th and early 20th centuries but has fallen out of fashion: Fannie was my great-grandmother's name.
In American finance, Fannie Mae is the informal name for the Federal National Mortgage Association, a government-sponsored enterprise in the housing market. (Lowercase fanny is slang for buttocks or, in British English, vulgar slang for vulva.)
