F-ratio
ANOVA test statistic
The F-ratio is a statistical measure used to compare variances between groups, calculated by dividing one variance estimate by another.
It's central to analysis of variance (ANOVA), where researchers test whether group means differ significantly: The F-ratio indicated significant differences between treatment conditions.
Named for statistician Ronald Fisher.
Also called F-statistic or F-value.
