Extreme Makeover
Drastic appearance overhaul
Extreme Makeover was an American reality television series that gave participants dramatic transformations through plastic surgery, dental work, and styling.
The format spawned spinoffs including Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which renovated houses for families in need.
The phrase now describes any drastic overhaul: The downtown area got an extreme makeover with new shops and landscaping.
