Christian architecture
Steeples and naves
Christian architecture encompasses buildings designed for Christian worship and religious life—churches, cathedrals, monasteries, and chapels.
The tradition developed distinctive forms: the basilica with its long nave, the cruciform floor plan echoing the cross, soaring Gothic spires directing attention heavenward, and domed Byzantine structures.
The tour covered Christian architecture from early Roman basilicas to modern megachurches.
