British subject
Queen's realm citizen
British subject is a historical legal status denoting allegiance to the British Crown.
Before 1949, it applied to all people born within British territories worldwide.
Modern citizenship laws have largely replaced the term, though it persists in specific contexts—certain individuals born before 1983 retain the status, and Commonwealth citizens may still be described this way in formal or ceremonial contexts: As a British subject, she could vote in UK elections.
