Amber Room
Lost golden room
The Amber Room was an ornate chamber decorated with panels of amber backed with gold leaf and mirrors, originally constructed in eighteenth-century Prussia and later installed in a Russian palace near St.
Petersburg.
The panels were looted by Nazi Germany during World War II and have never been recovered, making the Amber Room one of history's most famous lost treasures.
A reconstruction was completed in 2003.
