zonking out
Suddenly losing consciousness
Zonking out is falling asleep quickly and deeply, often from exhaustion: I zonked out on the couch before the movie ended.
The phrase suggests sudden, heavy sleep rather than a gradual drift.
Someone can also zonk out from drugs or alcohol—losing consciousness or becoming completely unresponsive.
