winter time
Snow and frost
Winter time is the season of winter, or more specifically, the period when clocks are set to standard time rather than daylight saving time.
In casual use, it simply means the cold months: I prefer hiking in winter time.
The technical sense appears in discussions of clock changes: We fall back to winter time in November.
Also spelled as one word: wintertime.
