wild geraniums
Pink forest flowers
Wild geraniums are flowering plants of the genus *Geranium*, native to woodlands and meadows across North America and Europe.
Unlike the showy cultivated geraniums of window boxes (which are actually *Pelargonium*), wild geraniums have delicate five-petaled flowers, typically pink or purple, and deeply lobed leaves.
They bloom in spring and early summer: The trail was lined with wild geraniums.
