whyfor
The motivating purpose
Whyfor means the reason or purpose behind something, typically appearing in the phrase whys and wherefores: We don't need to know the whys and wherefores—just do it.
On its own, whyfor is dialectal or old-fashioned, asking for what reason: Whyfor did you leave so early?
