wandless

Lacking magical implement

Wandless describes magic performed without a wand, or a magic user who lacks one.

The term belongs almost entirely to fantasy fiction, especially Harry Potter fandom, where it distinguishes advanced or unconventional spellcasting from the wand-dependent norm: Wandless magic is considered difficult even for experienced wizards.
