walking safaris
Hikes through wilderness
Walking safaris are guided expeditions on foot through African wildlife areas, offering closer encounters with animals and terrain than vehicle-based tours allow.
Participants walk in small groups led by armed rangers, tracking animals and observing details—plants, insects, animal signs—that vehicles pass by.
The pace is slower and the experience more immersive: We did a walking safari in Zambia and came within fifty meters of elephants.
